We traveled to England and Scotland with our dear friends Marilyn and Jim for three weeks in May and June of 2022. A wonderful trip with great weather, magnificent scenery, friendly people, excellent accommodations, lots of interesting history...the list goes on. A quick overview of our itinerary: Heathrow - 1 night Oxford - 1 night Chipping Campden (The Costolds) - 3 nights Keswick (Lake District) - 3 nights Oban, Scotland (the beginning of the Highlands) - 3 nights Edinburgh - 3 nights York - 3 nights London - 4 nights One thing you may notice is a pink rabbit in some of the photos. We asked our three youngest grandchildren (Zachary, Lillie and Nora) to give us a small stuffed animal and we would take photos of it at different destinations and with different people. I hope you enjoy the photos. One note: Some of the selfies seem to appear upside down. The host site, Weebly, is working on correcting this
Our first overnight was Oxford. We didn't see a lot of it but saw some of the colleges of Oxford University, the oldest university in the English-speaking world.
We stayed three nights in Chipping Campden in the Cotswolds known for the thatched cottages and delightful villages.
Using Chipping Campden as our base we visited some neighboring villages and Hidcote Gardens
On our from Chipping Campton and the Cotswolds to Keswick (The Lake District) we stopped in Kniveton, (pop. c. 300). Kniveton is the ancestral home of my 10th great-grandfather (mid 1500's).
We spent 3 nights in Keswick in the Lake District. Our time included a boat ride on the Derment Water, a hike up to the Caslterigg Stone Circle, a hike to the Ashness Bridge and a visit to the Honnister Slate Mine.
